If managed correctly rainwater harvesting systems can be a great source of potable (drinking) water. Little maintenance is required if set up and managed properly. Quality H20 Solutions can do an inspection and assessment of your rainwater collection system and provide suggestions to improve and maintain healthy drinking water from your rainwater tank. This is included in our tank cleaning service. Government guidelines recommend cleaning your rainwater tank every two years to remove sludge and contaminants that build up in the tank from the collection system. Contaminants such as: organic debris, insects, lizards, animal droppings, bacteria, cysts, viruses, corrosion products (metals), dust, pesticides, agricultural chemicals etc can all find their way into your drinking water. If these are not controlled by regular maintenance your health could be at risk.

RAINWATER TANK CLEANING

 

A common misconception for rainwater tank cleaning is that your tank has to be empty! Sludge removal from your tank can be performed by us whilst your tank still has water in it with minimal loss of water and disturbance to the tank. This process involves using specialist equipment to suction the sludge from the bottom and sides of your tank and then filtering your water to remove solids and particulate matter. We can also do quality testing and sanitising of your water.

• Thorough inspection of your rainwater harvesting system including a report of findings and   recommendations to maintain healthy drinking water.

• Removal of sludge build-up on the bottom of your tank.

• Filtration of your water to remove any solids and particulate matter in your water.

• Optional water quality testing (ask for testing brochure).

• Optional sanitising of your water with a non-chlorine AS/NZS standard sanitising agent which will kill any bacteria in your water whilst dissipating quickly breaking down to harmless components.
